Having specified in our research, we found a lot of existing extreme
sports brands contained very crude and controversial material in their
advertising. As DECE are appealing to the same target audience, our initial
campaign idea was to follow the very crude approach and began by incorporating
these ideas into poster design.
Uncertain with the potential of the campaign we returned back to the
drawing board to overlook the brief and the collected research to gain
inspiration for indelicate theme. It immediately came to our attention having
looked back at the research that DECE not only produces products for adults,
but also children. Strictly following the structural brief and catering each
requirement, we instantly knew that this campaign was far too inappropriate and
that we must adapt to either tone it down and make it child-friendly or discard
the whole idea all together.
